Recap:

And that was when he realized that the settings around him weren’t familiar. He pushed the irrational fear away and looked around more closely. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a door somewhere open.

A nice looking lady came in. She had two twists of dirty blonde hair on opposite shoulders, and her light blue eyes shone with concern as she looked at Heero.

He stared at her for a second. She smiled at him calmly and walked to the desk by the closed window.

“How are you feeling, Mr. Yuy?”

He interrupted her. “Who the hell are you?”

Chapter Three

“I’m Sally Po, your doctor.” Sally looked at him curiously. “Do you know why you’re in here, Heero?”

Heero blinked, thinking. Actually, no, he didn’t know…which served as a problem. For as long as Heero knew he had never once been to the doctor from illness, only due to injuries. He shook his head slightly.

Sally quirked an eyebrow. “Someone found you passed out in the middle of your room corridor. He was generous enough to carry you all the way to the office.”

That made Heero frown. He had been sure that if someone had found him passed out it would have been in his room. Maybe the person was lying? But how did “he” get in his room? Heero always ::always:: locked the door. Not to mention the fact that the office was a LONG way from his dorm.

Sally cocked her head to the side, studying her patient. A forest of dark brown hair barely covering his eyes, Sally couldn’t tell what he was thinking. Most of her clients would have asked for their savior’s name by now. What made him different than the others?

Heero turned to look at the surroundings; it wasn’t like he could look out the window since it was closed. Plain beige walls surrounded the room followed by a royal blue curtain only on the wall that led to the door. The bed held strict white sheets and several medical machines were next to the bed on both sides.

::When did the school get this much money?:: Heero asked himself, looking suspiciously at the female doctor. She watched him also, though not as boldly. Her light blue eyes looked as if they were putting a puzzle together. He scoffed lightly in his head. She’ll never figure him out. No one has and no one ever will.

“Well?” she suddenly asked, startling him. “How are you feeling?”

Still, he hesitated to answer. “…fine…”

She nodded and turned back to her notes, writing something down in it. Heero pursed his lips and laid back down in the bed, staring up at the white ceiling. Maybe if he went to sleep he wouldn’t have to answer her questions. For now, anyway.

--

It was night time when Heero decided he had enough prisoner-slash-you-are-my-patient treatment. He was perfectly fine and yet they wouldn’t let him go. What the hell was wrong with these people? Couldn’t they see that he was annoyed? Then again, it would only take a mastermind to see that any emotion on Heero’s face. For some reason only Duo and Quatre had been able to out of their little “circle of friends”.

He slipped out of the bed, shivering slightly when his bare feet touched the ground. The wood under his feet creaked as he stepped out of his room with caution, quickly looking around to make sure no one was outside.

He walked quickly without looking back. If he looked back…

There were footsteps heard in the corridor and Heero’s pulse quickened. He was reminded of that night painfully, and growled deep in his throat, the sound animalistic and roguish. He turned, narrowing coolly enraged eyes on the man who walked behind him. Blues widened in shock as he got a glimpse of astonished-looking violet eyes peeking through bangs.

He whirled around, sprinting full out. No. No! There was just NO damn way he could be here. Heero’s heart trembled at the force of his emotions as he tried to get in control once again. Duo was gone from his life. And nothing could ever change that fact.

Alarms blared through the speakers and soon voices and more footsteps could be heard behind the running figure.

“STOP HIM!”

“Don’t let him get away!”

“Nooo~! My precious experiment!”

::Experiment?:: Heero asked himself with thinning lips as he rounded a corner. He stopped in his tracks. In front of him was a person with blonde hair and blue eyes. Heero shook his head, glancing at the figure with confused eyes.

“Quatre? What the hell are you doing here?”

The blonde gave his friend a sorrowful look. “I’m sorry, Heero.”

Heero took steps back slowly, watching his friend with distrustful eyes. He had wondered, but to think it would hurt this much even when he suspected…

His hair shaded his eyes as he thought of his options. He could go the other way, but it would take too long, and he knew the others were closing in on him fast. A person could only outrun someone for so long. His other option was to go through Quatre, with force if necessary. But he didn’t want to go and hurt someone unnecessarily. ::Dammit!:: he thought to himself, snarling. ::You have to stop thinking like that or you’ll be dead meat.:: And yet…

His mind made up, he turned to look at the other hallway and waited. He was long enough away from the other exit at the end of the wall, and from all that training from track he would probably be able to make it.

“You can’t keep me here.” As he spoke those words confidently, the people after him appeared at the end of the hallway with a little space behind them followed by a door. Yes, they couldn’t keep him here.

And then he ran at them. Dimly, he heard Quatre shouting at him through the pounding in his ears. Determination burned through his veins as his body shifted into position. He watched everything in slow motion; his bare feet hit the ground lightly, his breathing went stable, the guards’ eyes widening under their caps, and the doctors who were watching him with a startling intensity. And then his muscles coiled and he sprang from the ground, sailing through the air.

While he was in the air, he watched their reactions and decided that when he landed, they wouldn’t even move to try and stop him. After all, who could get over something like someone jumping straight over your head? He managed an aimed smirk at the shocked blonde at the other back corner, as if to say, ‘See? I told you.’

He hit the ground, landing like a trained gymnast, and once again sprang up but only to start running. He headed for the door just within his reach, knowing he absolutely had to cover as much ground possible before their shock wore off. When that happened, the chase would start once again and tricks like jumping over heads wouldn’t surprise them as easily. Heero knew he would have to start getting rough soon.

He pushed through the doors and ran into the night, the sky glowing slightly with the oncoming sunrise. He looked around his surroundings, completely taken aback at the settings. Since when had he been transported to the middle of the jungle?

Birds seemed to cackle at his situation, laughing madly from their spots on random trees. There were bugs flying in the air, and crickets could be heard trying to calm their fellow “people”. Heero wondered idly if something else was lurking out there, especially since it was still considered night. He shrugged. It wasn’t like he couldn’t see, right?

Making the decision that he didn’t care, Heero sprinted into the forest just as the door burst open. He followed the sounds of a river, knowing that while it wouldn’t be wise to get into cold water without extra clothes it would be the best thing for him to do at the moment. If the guards had heat sensors then Heero could cool himself down easily with the ice cold waters. Not only that, but the current (if there was one) should be able to carry him downstream, maybe even towards a town or something.

He ran swiftly, his bare feet crunching against the leaves painfully. He tried to dodge the tree branches as he ran, but he couldn’t avoid all of them. The result, breaking the sticks that showed where he had run like signals of his passing. The sound of rushing water caught his attention and he veered to the left.

Something flashed black out of the corner of his left eye but it was quickly dismissed in the heat of the moment. He didn’t have time to think about other dangers and possibilities at the moment; his top priority was to get away from the people who had brought him here in the first place.

Finally there was a better clearing up ahead and the roar of the river got louder. The anticipation in his veins grew steadily as he tried to listen for noise behind him. He didn’t hear anything, but maybe they were just lagging behind.

He was close enough to the river. It rushed and swirled rapidly, and Heero hesitated. While he had confidence in his swimming abilities… Was having confidence enough to really survive swimming in rapid water currents? He could very well die if he made just one mistake.

He looked behind him, his frown becoming apparent. If he stayed here he could very well be killed also. Or better yet, be an ::experiment::. He didn’t know what that meant, but judging from the voice that didn’t want him to get away…he shuddered. And before he could think about it anymore, he jumped. He would rather risk death instead of becoming a guinea pig anyway.

He only got a quick breath in before the rushing water pulled him under. Waves under water crashed into him, making him loose air that streamed out of his lips in the forms of bubbles. He took the chance and surfaced quickly, gasping and gulping in air before he went under again.

He swam to the best of his ability but it wasn’t easy. Each time the under-waves crashed into him felt like he was getting punched in the gut time and time again. Because of the fast moving water it was hard to even try and open his eyes, much less keep them open to try and look out for the huge rocks that could be in his way.

As he pushed his head up to the surface once again the water started to move quicker. Heero blinked and tensed, searching for what could have been the purpose. His eyes widened when they looked upon a waterfall. Fuck, he was going to have to go over that?!

But it was too late to think of it now, for he was already going down. His shocked eyes –currently tilted upward – landed on a figure standing on the top of the cliff, looking down at him with concerned violet eyes before darkness closed around him.

-_-_-_-

Violet eyes watched the form by the river, debating whether or not to go out. The unsuspecting figure would probably try to murder him on the spot.

Duo’s eyes widened considerably when he saw Heero jump into the river. He watched with anxious eyes, scanning the surging river for a dark head. He blew out a breath of relief when he saw one pop up at least twenty feet from his spot and followed closely.

And nearly died of a heart attack when he realized that there was a waterfall at the end of the river. Wide eyes widened even more when he saw Heero make a beeline for the end and he ran, not caring whether or not he got caught by his “coworkers” or Heero, even.

But that moment of hesitation cursed him. Heero was already going over the waterfall when Duo arrived, watching the waters carefully to hopefully see a dark head of hair. When he didn’t find any he looked over and froze as their eyes met for the second time that day. A shock of electricity bolted through his veins as Heero closed his eyes and fell.

“Heero…” he whispered, looking at the waters dully. “Come back to me.”

“Just remember one thing...

When its time to fill the void my whole life has been destroyed
And everyone around me says my time is running out
I refuse to surrender, I refuse to surrender

So when I'm out of control and I'm out of my mind
Just remember one thing, I think I'm just fine
So catch me when I fall, I won't remember anything at all
So catch me when I fall...”
