Roman Night Ch1

Chapter One

Rome Desain walked behind a guide to the gym. Today was his lucky day, it seemed. He had no homework because of the pep-rally, which meant him being able to finish his “mission”. If everything went along with his plan, it would be perfect! After, all he would have to do would be to shower and make it to the bed, and hopefully he wouldn’t be too worn out like last time.

As he walked with the boy next to him, he couldn’t help but wonder why all the guys he had seen so far were so beautiful. Jeez, you would have thought this place taught modeling from all of the “sparkle sparkle” guys here. Thankfully he was bi, because he would have been a little freaked at how much he was getting turned on by the people here, and his “master” would never let him live it down.

They soon came to another corridor and Rome heard music playing behind a giant door that he assumed led to the gym. He wondered idly how people made mixes and songs so easily and how they appeared almost always perfect. He watched as the boy in front of him opened the door to the room and held the door open, waiting for him to go inside.

Music blasted out in the form of ‘Dum Diddly’ by the Black Eyed Peas before changing to ‘How Soon Is Now?’ by T.A.T.U. Cheers rose to the music and Rome stood still in shock as he watched the male cheerleaders on the open floor of the gym.

Not only were they good but they were beautiful. Some of the more feminine guys were in shorts that showed off their slender legs while the more ‘rugged’ guys were in pants. Their shirts were the same colors; black and gold. They ranged in size and Rome found himself getting more turned on than he already was.

Then he was struck speechless when he saw him. The boy was absolutely gorgeous, his delicate features and the way his body swayed made Rome’s breathing speed up as well as his already pounding heart. His eyes skipped from the almond shaped golden eyes to the braided black hair that went all the way down to his thighs. Damn, his ass was fantastic!

“Just by the way you’re staring, everyone who looked at you just now knows that you like the head cheerleader.” said the boy beside him, causing Rome to lightly blush.

Then he realized something. “W- wait. Did you say head cheerleader?!”

The boy gave him an odd look. “Yeah, do you have a problem with that?”

Rome made an insulted noise. “Of course not! What type of man would that make me if I got offended by that?”

“Good, that means you’ll fit in just nicely here!” The boy, who Rome now remembered as Taggir, clapped and smiled beautifully.

Rome sweatdropped. What was wrong with the people here?! It was like everything they did was supposed to be perfect. He turned away from Taggir and watched as the cheerleaders danced sinuously on the floor, and wondered why the principal let them get away with that kind of stuff. Some were sharing kisses, and cheers rose up as all the males watched the floor. Rome wondered at why there seemed to be no homophobes here at this school. It was starting to seem a little too perfect for his tastes.

The audience gave a standing ovation after the cheerleaders got done with their routine. It seemed like their dances (cheers, whatever) were more interesting than the other ones at Rome’s old school, to which he cheered silently. It wasn’t everyday you could see a very interesting dance performed by a group of hot guys.

He smiled slightly (a fact unknown to him, I might add, but not unknown to little Taggir. The little bastard was actually quite observant) as he watched the head cheerleader bounce off the floor quickly. He had to admit, at his old schools he never really went for the cheerleaders because they had all seemed stuck up in the clouds somewhere, but this cheerleader… He was different from them, not to mention he was a guy. His eyes were serious even when he gave smiles like nothing ever seen.

He snapped out of his daze when he realized people staring at him from afar. He smiled at them slyly, a knowing smile that made some turn away pink. He knew that whatever gender it was, both found him attractive, and he was going to use that to his advantage.

Midnight Green quickly changed in the locker room. Sometimes pep-rallies got on his nerve, if he was being serious. He always had to watch out for the perverts of the school, especially in the locker rooms.

His golden eyes darted around nervously as he pulled on his tight jeans and a Patriots jersey. He had picked the outfit because of sheer boredom this morning, finding nothing else to do. It wasn’t like he even tried to keep up with the fashion changes; he was a guy, for crying out loud.

He almost jumped a foot in the air when he heard footsteps coming in from the gym. K’so, he cursed in his native language. (A/N: for those of you who don’t know, that means shit, or something along the lines of that) Maybe it was just him, but it seemed like something was about to happen, and he couldn’t tell if it was going to be good or bad.

More footsteps sounded and disappeared, leaving a confused Midnight behind. Had the person found what they were looking for so quickly? He didn’t even hear the door closing the last time. Maybe he was finally loosing it.

He came out of his place slowly and froze when he realized he had just fallen into a trap. He turned around slowly to meet ice blue eyes that were slowly tracing up and down his lithe body.

He felt a heavy dose of fear… before he recognized the idiot the pair of eyes belonged to.

“Taggir,” he warned in a cool voice. “It’s best not to sneak up on me. You know I hate when someone does.”

“Maa, maa Mid. No need to get all cool on me,” Taggir stepped out of the shadows and grinned playfully at Midnight. “You know how I love to play jokes on you!”

Which was pretty true. Taggir and Midnight have grown up childhood friends with rough experiences. Taggir was the light-hearted one out of the group, whilst Midnight calm and efficient. It wasn’t like Midnight could help what was going on in his friend’s brain… that is if he even had one. Sometimes it made itself known, and others… it just, well, seemed to disappear.

Midnight just snorted before turning his attention back to his locker. “Any reason you’re here?”

There were a few shuffling noises. “Yeah, actually. I want to introduce someone to you.”

Midnight turned back. “Are you going to introduce that guy?” he asked eagerly, attitude forgotten. “Because I wouldn’t mind, he was just stunning!”

Taggir’s eyes widened and he looked at something behind the door with a warning written on his face. Midnight pointed to the thing behind the lockers, already starting to feel a blush coming onto his face. Dammit, he cursed again.

[[Taggir’s 1st Person POV]]

I felt sorry for Mid. (A/N: short for Midnight, for those who don’t understand yet) Normally he wasn’t interested in guys because they were too… weird? I don’t know the reasoning behind his ways, he just didn’t like the guys from our school. He was scared of them even at certain times. After all we had grown up with basically everyone in this school. And now when a new kid, and might I add a very gorgeous new kid, came he embarrassed himself without even knowing it.

I looked at him and would have laughed at his face, but it would have only embarrassed himself more in front of Rome, who currently looked amused. I sighed inwardly. Poor, poor Mid. All I could do is wish him good luck, because it seemed like he was going to need it.

[[Midnight’s POV]]

All Midnight wanted to do was wait until a hole swallowed him into the earth. He was sure his blush made sure that everyone saw him embarrassed, which was quite a big deal. He hadn’t been embarrassed for a while now.

Why, oh why do I do this to myself? he asked. It seemed like the only guy worth trying to get attention from was now probably laughing his ass off at the moment.

As if signaled somehow, the guy in question stepped out of the aisle of lockers he had been in and gave a smile that looked like half a smirk. Midnight wanted to die all over again but somehow kept standing as he looked at the new student.

He was just b.e.a.uuuutiful! Shaggy coppery hair, reflecting yellow from the light and a face so sinfully carved. Midnight was sure that no one on the earth could even come close to matching the new student’s looks. High and sharp cheekbones along with a pin straight nose and an almost square jaw (which was still somewhat angular) held against his tan that seemed almost natural on him. Not only that, his lips were just… to die for!

But nothing, and he meant nothing, would even come close to how beautiful his eyes were. They were wide and silver, framed by lashes made by the gods. Inside the silver little green and red flexes danced in the light, giving off an almost Christmas glow. There was nothing on the planet that could have been as pretty as those silver eyes.

Rome looked at the boy in front of him while trying to keep his cool. He hadn’t felt this way since, well, ever. It was that type of flustered, starry-eyed feeling that you got, and the butterflies in his stomach were getting a little more hyper than they were allowed to be.

Gold eyes that were framed with beautiful, lush lashes sparkled at him with embarrassment. A light dust of pink ghosted over high cheekbones and delicate features of the face.

Rome found himself laughing to hide his excitement at hearing those words. He couldn’t believe that the beautiful creature in front of him wanted to know him as much as he wanted to know Midnight, or Mid as Taggir said. Though he had heard those same sentences before, he found himself liking how Midnight said it.

“Hey,” Rome said, smiling his best smile at the male cheerleader.

“Hi,” Midnight replied, almost shyly while lowering his lashes over his golden eyes.

“Well,” Taggir said, breaking the suffocating silence. He knew that it was just his cue to go and leave the fall-in-love-at-first-sight teens alone. He hoped silently for Midnight’s happiness, but if Rome somehow made his friend more desolate than usual, than God help him, but nothing on earth would stop him from taking Rome’s head as a prize.

Footsteps sounded and soon Rome and Midnight were the only ones inside the locker room. Rome’s heart pounded as he looked at Midnight, who looked as star struck as he felt. It was like everything was finally complete.

******

Midnight walked home considering what had happened today. It seemed like he had finally met the person he had been waiting for. The question was, did he want that person as much as he did when he was younger? A lot had happened to him since he was ten, and not everything that had happened was entirely good.

A wet splat and water hitting his face brought him out of his thoughts quickly. Soon childish laughter followed and Midnight mock scowled, looking around for his baby brother. He hadn’t even known he was being followed, something anyone would have been lucky to see. No one was ever lucky enough to sneak up on him, and that amused him to no end but it seemed like his brother could easily sneak up on him, and he found that ironic.

He smirked when he got a good idea, and dropped to the floor, whimpering in pain… not really. But you did what you had to so you could get what you wanted, and right now he wanted his brother out of his hiding spot. It was a good thing that he had always been a great actor.

He curled up on the street, ignoring all the cars that drove by. Soon a telltale sign of rustling bushes caught his attention as he watched his little brother come running out with a scared, worried look on his cute face.

Midnight felt a small rush of pride when he looked at his baby brother. Normally keen violet eyes were lit up like a kid’s when Christmas came. Not only that, but Ai looked exactly like mother had before she had disappeared, only a different gender and younger. But then Midnight noticed the small cut on his brother’s left cheek and all good feelings he had turned murderous.

He sprang up from his fetal position and, ignoring his brother’s startled cry, gently grabbed Ai’s chin and turned it so he could get a better look. He stared at the newly healed cut that had probably just stopped bleeding just only minutes ago. A golden fire raged in his eyes as he caught what this meant. How dare that bastard cut up his baby brother.

Then Midnight became aware of the tears glistening in his brother’s eyes, eyes that were more mature than a seven year old had a right to be. The fire in his eyes dimmed, taking on a desperate, sorrowed glint. He tugged his brother into his grasp and hugged him, wanting to comfort the small body shaking in his arms. His grief-stricken gaze turned to glare at the direction of his house and promised he would work harder to shield his brother, even if it meant sacrificing himself to do so.
